Requirements
The minimum requirements of the City of Hartford's Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) Permit (PDF) are summarized in the 8 control measures listed below:
- Develop and implement a public education and outreach program (PDF) to increase the awareness of storm water pollution impacts on waters of the state to encourage changes in public behavior to reduce such impacts
- Develop and implement a program to notify the public of activities (PDF) required by this permit and to encourage input and participation from the public regarding these activities
- Develop, implement, and enforce a program to detect and remove illicit connections and discharges (PDF) to the MS4
- Develop, implement, and enforce a program to reduce the discharge of sediment and construction materials (PDF) from construction sites, more information is also available for contractors / home builders (PDF)
- Develop and implement a pollution prevention program (PDF) that establishes measurable goals for pollution prevention
- Develop and implement a municipal storm water management program (PDF), which shall achieve compliance with the developed urban area performance standards of Section NR 151.13(2), Wisconsin Administration Code, for those areas of the municipality that were not subject to the post construction performance standards of Section NR 151.12 or 151.24
- Develop and maintain a MS4 storm sewer system map
- Submit an Annual Report to the Department of Natural Resources in accordance with Section 3.10 of the General Permit
